A national parking-to-power movement

America needs more power. The space is already here.

Project Parking Lot is building a national movement to transform underused commercial parking into covered, energy-producing infrastructure—without consuming additional land.

01

Use space that has already been developed and paved.

02

Private capital can fund qualifying infrastructure.

03

Build a visible, scalable piece of America’s energy future.

01 — The movement

The opportunity begins by seeing the enormous amount of space America has already built in a new way.

America needs more electricity.

Millions of parking spaces sit exposed to the sun every day, performing only one function.

We can make the pavement we already built serve two purposes.

OUR BELIEF

Energy should be built where it is used.

Distributed generation can place productive infrastructure directly alongside schools, businesses, hospitals and communities.

OUR APPROACH

Preserve land by using pavement.

Parking areas can continue serving the people who use them while producing energy above them.

OUR MISSION

Make participation possible at scale.

Connect properties, private capital and nationwide delivery into one repeatable path from nomination to operation.

02 — Why solar. Why now.

The grid is being asked to do more.

The next chapter of American growth is increasingly electric. Solar will not solve every energy challenge, but producing power close to where it is consumed can become an important part of a more diverse energy system.

Grid investment and power costs

Growing demand and infrastructure needs can place continuing pressure on the cost of delivering electricity to homes and businesses.

The utility bill has no finish line.

Traditional utility service is an ongoing operating expense with pricing outside the customer’s control. A well-structured solar project can create a more predictable energy path and reduce exposure to future utility-rate changes.

01

Electricity demand grows.

02

New generation and grid infrastructure are required.

03

Capital and operating costs enter the system.

04

Customers can face continued rate pressure.

03 — Why parking lots

Don’t search for more land. Make paved land work harder.

A solar carport preserves the primary function of a parking lot while adding protection, generation and the foundation for future energy services.

04 — How it works

From overlooked lot to operating energy asset.

Every opportunity begins with fit. Funding, savings and project advancement depend on site conditions and investment underwriting.

Isometric property nomination and location review
STEP 01

Nomination or review

A property owner—or someone who knows the property—submits the opportunity.

STEP 02

Site and energy analysis

Parking layout, electricity use, utility market and property objectives are evaluated.

Institutional review of solar-carport project economics
STEP 03

Investment underwriting

Qualified opportunities move into capital review, commercial modeling and feasibility.

STEP 06

Energization and operation

The system begins producing electricity and the parking lot becomes working infrastructure.

05 — For property owners

What could this mean for your property?

A qualifying property may be able to add solar-carport infrastructure without making a traditional upfront system purchase. The opportunity begins with the property’s energy profile—not a one-size-fits-all proposal.

Common questions

Does the property have to buy the system?

Qualified projects may be structured so private capital funds the upfront project cost. The property instead enters an agreed long-term energy arrangement. Final terms vary by project.

Will the parking lot remain usable?

The finished structure is designed to preserve parking. Construction logistics and temporary access impacts are planned around the specific property.

Which properties are the best fit?

Schools, universities, hospitals, hotels, dealerships, commercial campuses, retail centers and industrial properties with meaningful parking and electricity demand can be strong candidates.

Does an evaluation guarantee a project?

No. The initial review determines whether deeper diligence makes sense. Engineering, interconnection, commercial terms and investment approval are still required.
